Most skincare problems are the wrong routine

The forty-step shelf usually makes skin worse, not better. Almost everyone does well on the same short backbone, a gentle cleanser, the right moisturiser, and daily sunscreen, adjusted a little to their type. This quiz reads how your skin actually behaves through the day and points you at a simple routine that fits it instead of fighting it. It is a friendly guide, not medical advice.

The four skin types

The Thirsty

Dry or dehydrated, tight and sometimes flaky. It responds fast to hydration layered under something that seals it in, and to gentler washing.

The Slick

Oily and prone to congestion, especially the T-zone. Balance beats war on oil, since stripping it usually makes it produce more.

The Two-Zone

Combination: oily middle, drier edges. The fix is a balanced base everywhere with a little zone-specific care.

The Reactive

Sensitive and quick to flush or sting. Doing less wins: a short routine of soothing, fragrance-free basics, added one at a time.

The routine that suits almost everyone

Whatever your type, three steps do most of the work: a gentle cleanser, a moisturiser matched to how oily or dry you run, and sunscreen every morning. Add at most one active, like niacinamide or a gentle exfoliant, and introduce anything new on its own so you know what did what. The biggest free upgrade is to stop over-washing, which quietly causes half of all skin complaints.

Common questions

Is this dermatologist advice? No. It is a simple, well-informed guide to skin types and sane routines, not a diagnosis. For acne, persistent redness, or anything that worries you, see a dermatologist.

Do I really need lots of products? No. A gentle cleanser, a good moisturiser, and daily SPF cover most people. More products cause more reactions, not better skin.
